Purpose |

| The purpose of this program is to update physicians caring for critically ill patients. At the end of this program the participant should be able to: |

Have an understanding of diagnosis and management of the critically ill patient for the initial 24-48 hours in the ICU. |
| |
|
|
Understand current concepts and manage the patients airway needs including the management of the difficult airway. |
| |
|
|
Understand the anatomy and clinical placement of a variety of invasive devices in the ICU |
| |
|
|
Understand and perform percutaneous bedside tracheostomy in the critically ill patient. |
|

| This activity has been planned and implemented with the Essentials and Standards of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) for Category 1 CME credits for physicians. |

The Critical Care environment has rapidly developed into a fast paced |
|
|
| |
arena for the physician where initial decisions and practice management greatly affect patient’s outcome. Participants will learn the intricacies of patient care within the first 24-48 hours. Curriculum will include the didactic and clinical scenarios encompassing the fundamentals of critical care support, difficult airway management, **percutaneous bedside tracheostomy and a variety of other invasive procedures. |

other. Educational components will focus on various aspects of Critical Care and encompass both didactic and simulated training exercises. Our faculty is being assembled
from major teaching universities such as Yale University, University
