Purpose

 
The purpose of this program is to update physicians caring for critically ill patients. At the end of this program the participant should be able to:
 
bullet Have an understanding of diagnosis and management of the critically ill patient for the initial 24-48 hours in the ICU.
bullet Understand current concepts and manage the patients airway needs including the management of the difficult airway.
bullet Understand the anatomy and clinical placement of a variety of invasive devices in the ICU
bullet Understand and perform percutaneous bedside tracheostomy in the critically ill patient.

This activity has been planned and implemented with the Essentials and Standards of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) for Category 1 CME credits for physicians.
 
 
 
Icon The Critical Care environment has rapidly developed into a fast paced
 
  arena for the physician where initial decisions and practice management greatly affect patient’s outcome. Participants will learn the intricacies of patient care within the first 24-48 hours. Curriculum will include the didactic and clinical scenarios encompassing the fundamentals of critical care support, difficult airway management, **percutaneous bedside tracheostomy and a variety of other invasive procedures.
